What Is the Raise Cohort?

A 12-Month Investment in the Leaders Behind Your Community's Most Important Work

The Raise cohort is GoodmakerU's flagship capacity-building program — a structured, long-term training experience designed specifically for nonprofit Executive Directors, development staff, and board members who want to build sustainable fundraising infrastructure inside their organizations.

Unlike a one-day workshop or a single-topic seminar, Raise is built around the belief that real behavior change takes time, community, and repeated practice. Participants don't just learn fundraising strategy — they apply it in campaigns, alongside peer organizations, with coaching and accountability built into every phase.

The result isn't a one-time fundraising bump. It's a permanent shift in how an organization approaches donor development, board engagement, community storytelling, and long-term financial sustainability.

"Our biggest win is that we are a healthier board and organization. We are better set up for growth."

Is Raise Right for Your Community?

What a Strong Raise Partnership Looks Like

Raise works best in specific conditions. Here's what the strongest partnerships have in common.

Raise tends to be the right fit when your foundation...

Has an existing grantee community of small to mid-sized nonprofits you want to strengthen collectively
Wants to measure fundraising and organizational health outcomes alongside programmatic outputs
Has a regional giving day or community foundation in place that cohort participants can activate
Is willing to commit to a 12-month partnership rather than a one-time training investment
Wants your program officer to be a genuine partner in the cohort experience — not just a check-writer
